Direct Donations:
Direct Donations is used for items that are too small (one scanner, for example) or too large (one piano) for us to pick up. If you don’t have the time to drop-off at our warehouse, you can list your items on our Direct Donations page. Through this program, MFTA’s recipients pick items up directly from the donors – you get to meet the juggler who will be using your old tricycle, or two-year old laptop. Recipients log onto our website to view the list of available items. They let us know the items they are interested in and we send them the donor’s (your) name and number. Recipients pick up the item directly from the donor and we send the donor a tax letter. Easy as 1-2-3.
How it works - the Donor’s perspective: 1) Call us or list your items online. We will let you know whether the listed items have been accepted and placed on the Direct Donations section on our website. (Your contact information is never listed on the website – recipients must call MFTA to receive this information.) 2) You will be contacted via phone or e-mail by an art therapist, public school teacher, or set designer interested in your items. 3) Arrange a mutually convenient time to have them view your items. 4) Call us to let us know when the transaction has been completed. 5) Receive a tax letter in the mail. 6) Repeat cycle. If you decide to place your items on our Direct Donations site and would like to see if your items qualify please call 718.729.3001 ext. 203 or sign up to donate now. |
