Creative Infusion: Art and Reuse in the Classroom

Program

Creative Infusion (formerly the Summer Institute) is a week long course, offered 3 times during the summer. The course presents a series of hands-on workshops which illustrate how to incorporate arts into established curriculum by creatively addressing the State and NYC Standards as well as multiple Blueprint Strands. Examples of sessions include: Art of Reuse- an introduction to materials and problem solving; Bookmaking- the creation of book structures to complement a multitude of subjects; Theatre Arts (hats, masks & costumes) and Puppetry- a spotlight on the communication of stories through various mediums. Participants will utilize reused materials from the MFTA warehouse to create all of their projects. Lunch is provided each day.

NYC DOE educators can receive "P-Credits" by registering for this course on the http://www.nycenet.edu/aspdp/ website. For Non Credit-seeking educators you can sign up using the MFTA event sign up. There are 5 slots open for Non-Credit seeking educators each week. When signing up be sure to sign up for the specific week you are interested in attending.
